FARM · PADDOCK FENCING
Post-and-board, paddock, and pasture fencing built the way farm fence should be: posts set deep and plumb with our excavator-mounted auger, lines cleared and graded first, gates hung square. Serving Millbrook, Pine Plains, and horse and farm properties across Columbia & northern Dutchess County. Family-owned, fully insured, 5.0 stars on Google.
A fence is only as good as its posts — and posts are only as good as the holes they sit in. We set ours with an excavator-mounted auger, deep and plumb every time, so your lines stay straight and your gates keep swinging square through frost heaves and wet springs. And because we’re an excavation company first, we do the parts most fence crews can’t: clearing overgrown fence lines, pulling old fence and stumps, and grading away the mud before the first post goes in.

Why Farm Owners Choose Oakley
Building an Arena or Improving Pasture?
Fencing pairs naturally with the rest of what we do — riding arena construction, pasture restoration and land clearing, and drainage that keeps gateways and high-traffic areas from turning to mud.

Tell us what you’re fencing and we’ll walk the line with you — then give you one written price for the whole job: clearing, posts, boards, gates, and cleanup included. No per-foot math, no surprises.
Q: How much does farm fencing cost in the Hudson Valley?
A: We quote one price for the whole job — not by the foot. On real properties, clearing the line and grading can change the work drastically, so a per-foot number often isn’t the whole story: gates, clearing, rough ground, and haul-off have a way of showing up later as extras. We walk your line, scope everything — clearing, posts, boards, gates, cleanup — and hand you one written price that doesn’t move. Whoever you hire, it’s worth asking exactly what a quote includes.
Q: How tall should a horse fence be?
A: Around five feet for most horses. We’ll recommend the right height and style for what you’re keeping in — horses, ponies, foals, or the family dog.
Q: Can you clear the fence line first?
A: Yes — that’s the part most fence companies can’t do. We clear brush, trees, and stumps along the line with our own equipment, then set the fence in clean ground. One crew, one visit.
Q: Do you replace old fencing?
A: All the time. We pull the old fence and posts, haul everything off, and set the new line — like the riding-arena fence we replaced in Millbrook, shown in our photos below.
Q: What kind of posts do you use?
A: Whatever you want — it’s your fence, and we build to your spec. Customers in our area typically choose pressure-treated posts and boards because they hold up well through our wet springs and freeze-thaw winters, they’re readily available, and they keep the budget sensible; locust is the traditional Hudson Valley pick when you want posts that last for generations. Either way, we set them deep with our excavator-mounted auger — good holes are the difference between a fence that lasts 5 years and one that lasts 25.

From a single paddock to a whole farm perimeter, we build fence that stays straight — posts augered deep, lines cleared clean, gates that swing square. Serving Millbrook, Pine Plains, and farms across Columbia & northern Dutchess County.
