Septic System Excavation & Engineered Septic Installation

Is your septic tank backing up? Noticing soggy spots in your yard or bad smells near your drain field? Or maybe you’re building a new home and need a complete septic system installed from scratch. Whatever your septic situation, Oakley Builders & Excavation is here to help — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We handle every type of septic work for homeowners across Dutchess County: new septic system installations for new construction, septic tank replacements when your old tank has failed, drain field replacements, septic system inspections for home sales, and septic repairs when you can’t wait.

What Does a Septic System Installation Look Like?

If you’re building a new home, here’s what to expect. First, we’ll visit your property and do a soil test (also called a “perc test”) to figure out where the best spot is for your septic system. The soil needs to drain properly for the system to work. Your engineer then designs the system and gets it approved by the county health department. Once everything is approved, our crew will excavate (dig out) the area for your septic tank and drain field. We install the tank, connect all the pipes from your house, build the drain field, and make sure everything flows correctly. Finally, we grade (smooth out) the soil and restore your yard.

Signs It’s Time to Replace Your Septic System

Your septic system is trying to tell you something if you notice: slow drains throughout your house (not just one sink), gurgling sounds in your pipes, sewage smells in your yard or basement, standing water or soggy patches over your drain field, or unusually green grass over your septic area (this often means sewage is leaking to the surface). If any of these sound familiar, call us right away. Septic problems only get worse (and more expensive) the longer you wait.

Frequently Asked Questions

Costs vary depending on your property’s soil, the size of your home, and the type of system required. We provide free estimates so you know exactly what to expect before any work begins.

It depends on the system your engineer designed and the ground it’s going into. Your engineer handles the design and the county health department approval; once that’s in hand we’ll give you a realistic schedule with the written estimate.

Warning signs include slow drains, sewage smells, soggy patches in your yard, and gurgling pipes. If you notice any of these, call us for an inspection before it becomes a bigger (and more expensive) problem.

Yes, in most cases buyers (and their lenders) will require a septic inspection. We don’t perform septic inspections ourselves. A certified septic inspector does that, and if the report turns up a failed tank, distribution box or leach field, we handle the repair or replacement it calls for.
