TREE REMOVAL & HAULING
Got trees that need to come down? Oakley Builders & Excavation takes trees down, pulls the stumps and roots out, and hauls the whole mess away across Columbia County and northern Dutchess County. We are an excavation company, so we do it from the ground with machines. Family-owned in Pine Plains, fully insured, and rated 5.0 stars on Google.
We take trees down from the ground with the machine, then pull the stump and the roots out instead of grinding them down. That matters if the spot is going to be mowed, graded, seeded or built on, because a ground-down stump leaves the root ball in the dirt to rot and settle for years. The wood and brush get hauled away and the hole gets filled and smoothed over.
It is the right fit for trees in a field, along a fence line, on a building site or crowding the edge of a driveway. Text photos and the address for a free ballpark within 24 hours.
Q: How much does tree removal cost in Columbia & Dutchess County, NY?
A: It comes down to how many trees, how big they are, how close they sit to a house, wires or a septic field, whether the stumps come out, and whether the wood stays on site or leaves. Text or email us photos and the property address and we will come back with an honest range within 24 hours. The firm number comes after a site visit, and those happen on Fridays.
Q: Do you take the stump out too?
A: Yes, and the roots come with it. We grub stumps out with an excavator instead of grinding them down. Grinding chews the stump to below grade and leaves the whole root system in the ground, so the spot still cannot be built on and growth can come back. Grubbing takes the stump and the roots out together, and the tree is gone for good.
Q: Do you haul the trees away?
A: Yes. Trees, brush and stumps can all leave the property. Plenty of folks would rather we cut the logs to length and stack them for firewood, or leave the brush in a pile out back. Tell us what you want and we will price it that way.
Q: Do you do tree trimming, pruning or arborist work?
A: No. We are an excavation company, not an arborist. No climbing, no bucket truck, no ropes. Careful cutting up in the canopy is a different trade. What we do is take whole trees down, pull the stumps and roots, and clear the ground.
Q: Can you clear a whole lot, not just a few trees?
A: Absolutely, and that is most of what we do. Building lots, overgrown fields, fence lines and field edges. We can grade and prep the ground afterward for a driveway, a septic system or a foundation, all with one company. See our land clearing page for more.
Q: Do you handle storm damage and fallen trees?
A: Yes. Call (845) 459-3859 and we will get to you as fast as the schedule allows.

We come at tree work from the ground, with excavators, thumbs and grapples rather than bucket trucks and climbing gear. That makes us a good fit when trees need to come out of a field, a fence line, a building site or the edge of a driveway, and the stumps and roots need to come out with them. It also means there is work we do not take on: we do not prune, trim, cable or do arborist care, and we do not climb. If a limb needs a careful cut high in the canopy over a roof, that is a different trade. If the tree needs to be gone and the ground left clean, that is us.
We work throughout Columbia County and northern Dutchess County, NY, including Pine Plains, Millerton, Millbrook, Stanfordville, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Milan, Tivoli, Pleasant Valley, Hudson, Ghent, Chatham, Hillsdale and Copake.
